MATERIAL EXPLORATION
Agar-agar is a natural vegetable gelatin counterpart, obtained from red algae, mostly used in micro-biology or for culinary purposes. The powder-like substance is mixed with boiling water and other natural materials. After that, the liquid is poured into a form and when dries, it has a similar appearance and properties to plastic. The initial intentions were to explore what are the possibilities of this unique material and how it can be applied in everyday products and replace other unsustainable materials.
